FUZZ Weekly Update: Live Music, Good Wine!

In case you missed it last Friday, Cuckoo Chaos and Foxtails Brigade played two awesome back-to-back sessions, and they both absoslutely killed it! I even had the pleasure of interviewing the guys of Cuckoo Chaos after their set. If you weren’t in attendence, you will definitely want to check out the Sessions Blog to check out what you missed!

Upcoming FUZZ Sessions:

This week we have another CAN’T-MISS event airing on the FUZZ Sessions Blog: On Friday, 2/15/2013 between 2-4PM we will be hosting a special music and wine sampling session here at the FUZZ Bass-ment featuring music by Leeds-based funk band and longtime friends of FUZZ, The New Mastersounds, and wine supplied by Todd Maus of the award-winning Sonoma winery, Deering Wine! The band will start jamming around 2PM for about an hour, and then sit down with FUZZ CEO Jeff Yasuda and Todd Maus of Deering Wine at 3PM for fun roundtable discussion during which the guys will sample wines and discuss music!

The New Mastersounds - 2/15/2013 @ 2PM, Pacific

Eddie Roberts and his Leeds-based funk band The New Mastersounds will be coming to you live from the bass-ment studio, and can be viewed exclusively on the FUZZ Session Blog! The band is currently touring, fresh off of the release of their most recent album “Out on the Faultline” which dropped on November 5, 2012 on One Note Records. They are stopping by for a session amidst a stop in San Francisco during which they are headlining The Boom Boom Room for three consecutive nights (Thurs 2/14 – Sat 2/16) in San Francisco’s famed Fillmore District. Deering Wine Sampling Session - 2/15/2013 @ 3PM, Pacific

Immediately following the The New Mastersounds set, Todd Maus will be on hand to showcase a variety of the wines produced at Deering Wine in Sonoma, CA! Deering Wine was born in 2004 out of Todd’s and his wife Blair’s shared passion for drinking wine and cultivating grapes. Both raised in families with rich histories in farming and agriculture, the two have since dedicated themselves to producing great wines. Deering Wine has produced several “Best of Class” wines including the Deering 2008 Maus Vineyard Zinfandel and the Deering 2009 Cabernet Sauvignon. Cuckoo Chaos - 2/8/2013 @ 2PM, Pacific

Cuckoo Chaos is a five-piece indie rock band who we’re lucky to have coming through the “bass-ment” for a session (that can be viewed at Sessions Blog) before they jet across the Bay Bridge for an 8 p.m. show at The New Parish in Oakland, CA. The band, winner of ”Best Alternative Band” at the 2010 San Diego Music Awards, released a seven-song EP titledWoman on Lefse Records (Teen Daze) in September 2011, dropped a 7″ Vinyl on White Iris Records in fall of 2012, and are currently working on tracking for their new album at Big Fish Recording Studios in Encinitas, CA with acclaimed sound engineer/producer Stuart Schenk (Busta Rhymes, Stevie Wonder, Dr. Dre). Be sure to check out the band’s site andblog for more info on the band, their tour, and upcoming album!

Foxtails Brigade - 2/8/2013 @ 3:30PM, Pacific

Immediately following the Cuckoo Chaos session, chamber-pop musician Laura Weinbach and her band Foxtails Brigade will be in the building to do a session that you will not want to miss! The Bay Area-based duo released their second full length album “Time Is Passed” in November of 2012, and are stopping through the FUZZ bass-ment just two days before they play a show at San Francisco’s historic Jazz club Yoshi’s at 7PM on Sunday 2/10/2013. Boasting a sound that is equally haunting as it is disarming, Foxtails Brigade has a sound and you are sure to be entranced by. Hello FUZZ Testers!

So, James cranked hard through the holidays to work the kinks out of the beta in preparation for its official release, and now we are pumped to finally announce that the FUZZ Radio app is now officially in the iTunes App Store! Click here to get it!

We have yet to push the release through any official press channels as of yet, because prior to doing that, we wanted to ask you, our early adopters, to help us by rating the app and writing a short review in the iTunes store. We want to get close to 50 reviews in the app store, and while it might not seem like a big deal, it REALLY would help to drive interest in the app! If you have an iOS device and are in the US, follow this link, and click the “Ratings and Reviews” tab located directly above the “iPhone Screenshots”. We would greatly appreciate it!

FUZZ Weekly Update: Happy Holidays!

Hello FUZZ Testers!

The skies have opened up in an angry, torrential downpour. Outside it is dark and cold. Thick, low-hanging gray clouds cast an ominous shadow over the Golden Gate Bridge. Families frantically negotiate slippery sidewalks. Traffic jams everywhere. IT’S COMING (and by ‘IT’, I mean the in-laws). Even the Mayans could’nt have envisioned such an ordinary pre-Holiday Friday in San Francisco…COULD THEY HAVE?!

Okay, okay. Now that the obligatory ‘End-of-the-World’ joke is out of the system, I would like to use the final newsletter of the 2012 calendar year to say, on behalf of the entire FUZZ team: THANK YOU.

Without you, our early adopters, this FUZZ project would not be possible. It’s through your continued participation in this project, and mutual appreciation for music, that we derive our motivation to continue doing what we’re doing here. We have a lot of plans and hopes for the coming year, and a ton of work awaits us in 2013. But with your support, we are confident we can turn those dreams into a reality, and look forward to working with you on doing just that.

FUZZ Weekly Update: Station Manager Update!

Hello FUZZ Testers!

Update Alert! It has been an admittedly long time since we’ve announced an update to the website, but low and behold: the station manager has been re-tooled!

Newly added functionalities include:

1) Multi-station viewer – edit multiple stations at once
2) A play button – hover over tracks and press play to preview tracks within “My Library” and your tracklist
3) Re-posted tracks now distinguished within tracklist by a grey re-post icon
4) Numbered tracklists
5) Duration of tracklist now displayed in bottom right corner of station manager
6) Widgets for “DJ Authoring” and editing faulty track metadata (see screenshot below)

A big thanks to those of you who have been proactive in getting back to us with feedback and ideas. We are planning more updates to the site, including further iterations on the station manager. In the meantime, we ask that you please bug-test the latest update push and provide us with any and all feedback you may have — it’s incredibly valuable to us!

On the heels of the release of her second, self-titled album, up-and-coming Canadian pop/rock singer-songwriter Hannah Georgas will be coming through the Fuzz studio bassment for a session admist her North American tour! Goodnight, Texas — Friday at 4:30 p.m. (Pacific), November 2, 2012:

American folk rockers Avi Vinocur (former guitarist of The Stone Foxes) and Patrick Dyer Wolf of Goodnight, Texas will be coming in for a session, having just released their debut EP A Long Life of Living on October 2, 2012. The duo formed the band over a plate of brisket following a seredipitous meeting in the town of Goodnight, Texas while both were trecking cross country by foot. Anya & the Get Down — Tuesday at 1 p.m. (Pacific), November 6, 2012:

San Jose-based singing extraordinaire Anya Kvitka and her band the Get Down will be in next Tuesday to bless us with their “musical schizophrenia.” The 25-year old Bay Area native incorporates elements of rock, soul/funk, hip-hop, dubstep, reggae, and jazz into her sound, and released a self-titled EP to the iTunes store last July.
